Shaome Cooperative
At Shaome (pronounced “show me”) Cooperative, our ‘why’ is rooted in the belief that everyone deserves the ability to grow their own food. We are committed to making Georgia the first food-secure state by literally putting seeds in the ground and providing the education and support needed to nurture those seeds into abundant harvests now and for generations to come. We teach people how to grow their own food, not just give them food, fostering self-sufficiency and community resilience. By empowering individuals to cultivate their own sustenance, we build a stronger, more sustainable future for all Georgians.
Shaome Cooperative is a community of people who want to give, teach, and equip others to do the same. Our BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal) is to make Georgia the FIRST Food-Secure State!
What is Food Insecurity?
Do you grow and/or raise enough food to sustain your family without going to a grocery store? No? THEN YOU ARE FOOD INSECURE! What would happen if trucks couldn’t get food to the stores and you could not find enough food to buy? How many weeks (or days) would you have food to eat? (USDA article about food insecurity.)
